Today and tomorrow are rest days. I have spent some time looking at my route across Cheshire which has had to be slightly re -jigged to take account of accommodation. I’ve also tried to re-jig to reduce the footpath mileage but in some places there aren’t many alternatives. Time will tell.

Now for some stats. Mileages on Offa’s Dyke have got longer. The route across the Severn to Chepstow was 15.5 miles. The next few days were shorter, and then the mileage increased.

Offa’s Dyke mileage
Chepstow – Tintern. 7.6
Tintern – Monmouth 12.1
Monmouth – Llangattock 15.8
Llangattock -Llanthony. 8.9
Llanthony- Hay on Wye 11.5
Hay – Kington 15.2, then rest day
Kington – Knighton 14.0
Knighton – Blue Bell inn 16.0
Blue Bell Inn – Welshpool 13 ish-managed to reset my GPS sometime after 10 miles.
Welshpool – Llanymynech. 12.8
Llanymynech-Chirk 16.4
Chirk -Bangor 13.2
Bangor-my mother’s house 9.5

Since leaving Bristol I have also ascended another Everest equivalent-29093 feet.
I had two days of walking without too much weight in my pack (Blue Bell Inn to Welshpool and Chirk to Bangor) which was great and gave my feet a much needed rest. Today I realised that although I had done a lot more walking than on some of my rest days my feet haven’t ached at all. Not even in Sainsbury’s.

My tent poles have arrived back from Rose’s Tent Pole Repairs (yes, really-just check out tentpolerepairs.co.uk) so I have gathered up all my camping kit together with the food I’ll need for the next few days. My pack is now rather heavy. I’m not sure it’s going to work…
