Today started with a leisurely coffee and some porridge. I don’t usually drink coffee when I’m walking, unless it’s decaff (too dehydrating) so it is quite a treat. My clothes are now hanging on the line and I am making use of Elaine’s electric massage machine whilst she is out for a walk with Reggie, the long-haired Jack Russell. She did suggest I went for a walk with her but you know my feelings about walking on Rest Days.

This afternoon we went to pick up Martin, Elaine’s husband, from the station in Glasgow, and went out for a meal.

It is now Monday and I have posted home some maps and done the ironing for Elaine. And that is the total excitement of my rest days.
I thought you might like some more statistics. I have walked 883 miles and taken 2.4 million steps. I am about to start on my third pair of shoes but my other gear has held out so far-apart from the tent which had to be mended after one of the poles broke.

Tomorrow I head off to the West Highland Way, where Matthew will be joining me at the end of day 2.
I love the stats as you know!

883 miles and 2.4 million steps will take some beating.
Well done. I hope Matt enjoys the walking too.

Thanks Marion. So far it’s been fine-not too hot, dry and not too midgy!
